M.A.G
Massive - Action - Game

The third world war is over: governments have fallen, economies have collapsed and the face of global politics has changed forever. As the world reels from history's most devastating conflict, a secret new power struggle has already began.

Before you can get into the battlefield you must pick which private military corporation ( PMC ) you wish to fight for, either S.V.E.R , RAVEN or VALOR. There are a few customizations options which you can change the way your character looks, but its nothing special. You will properly come across someone that looks exactly like you which shows you how little you can really do. Every faction has different guns but they are all laid out the same with a few assault rifles, light machines guns etc. To unlock new weapons and items you will need to level up your character. You are awarded one point after each level up which may seem a little small but then its your choice to save that point of spend it. After you have reached a certain amount of xp you will be given the choice to re-spec your character. This means all the points you have previously spent will be refunded at no cost which is a great way to try new and improved weapons. But be careful because as soon as you re-spec the amount of xp needed to re-spec again will keep going up.

There are 4 main games modes which are suppression ( 64 player, Team Death Match ) Sabotage ( 64 player battle, Defend/Attack A, B and then C ) Acquisition ( 128 player battle, Defend/Capture 2 main vehicles ) and Domination ( 256 player battle, defend/attack the oil pumps )

Zipper has been very cleaver in the sense that you have to work as a team to level up. Its no good running in guns blazing as you never know if there are 10 sniper rifles pointing at your head. The main selling point of this game is the 256 player battles that take place. Most of the time in the battle you will be defending/attacking a certain area which you will usually find your self fighting against 16 to 20 people max. This may not sound a lot but it's the sense of being apart of a squad which all of you need to work together as a team to either break through or fend off from the attackers. However, once you and your squad have broken through their defence you are then joined up with another 20 odd people from a different squad to attack 2 of the 8 oil pumps, that's when all hell breaks loose.

The graphics are not the best I have seen but you have to take into account with 256 players all in one battle at a given time it would struggle to run smoothly. I think zipper interactive have done a great job bringing an innovative shooter on the market.

There's only one downfall that can easily been fixed which is the variety of maps. If you're a serious gamer and you tent to play hours on end you will soon find yourself playing the same maps over and over.

I think in years to come with maybe new consoles being released that could handle the same amount of people and with better graphics, more and more developers will go down this road.

it's the way forward!
